The presence, distance, and capacity of existing schools are something to be consulted as part of plan-making, during the assessment of sites prior to site allocation, as well as when assessing existing infrastructure capacity when planning for growth. Understanding existing school capacity also allows for education authorities to plan for the need for expansion of existing schools, and the delivery of new schools.
